Tamron Adaptall-2 35-135mm F/3.5-4.2 Model 22A: A moderate
wide angle to moderate telephoto zoom lens with above average optical
performance. This lens features continuous focusing (CF) into macro mode with
1:4 macro magnification at the 135mm setting. Maximum aperture varies from
F/3.5 at 35mm to F/4.2 at 135mm. The floating element optical design and
mechanical construction is somewhat similar to Tamron's SP 28-135 model 28A
with the exception of the macro mechanism. Introduced in 1982, this lens was
replaced in 1985 with the less expensive and more compact model 40A lens which
features a new optical design requiring less complex mechanical construction.
The later model 40A lens discarded this model's CF macro ability and instead
uses a macro button and macro helicoid, similar to the SP 28-135, to enter the
macro mode at the 35mm setting. Both lenses have above average optical
performance.
